Montgomery County Appoints New Solicitor
Shelley R. Smith, a former city of Philadelphia solicitor under Mayor Nutter, has been appointed Montgomery County Solicitor.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Shelley R. Smith, a former city of Philadelphia solicitor under Mayor Nutter, has been appointed Montgomery County Solicitor, the county announced. Smith began her duties on Monday.
“Shelley has represented governments, hospitals, large corporations, and non-profits. We are excited that she is bringing her considerable legal expertise here to Montgomery County,” added Ken Lawrence, Jr., Vice Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. “We have hired the best candidate to lead our team of nine attorneys in the Montgomery County Office of the Solicitor. We look forward to working with Shelley.”
Smith currently works as a partner at the law firm Archer and Greiner in Philadelphia. She focuses on litigation, labor and employment, and general counsel practice, officials said.

She earned a BA in criminal justice from Temple University and a law degree from the Villanova University School of Law.
