Montgomery County Courts Ordered Closed Through May 31

NORRISTOWN, PA — The coronavirus judicial emergency declaration has been extended for courts in Montgomery County through May 31, officials announced Tuesday.

The declaration is in effect for Pennsylvania's entire 38th Judicial District based at Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown.

The declaration means that all county courts will continue to remain closed to the public except for emergency matters only.

"Please do not visit the courthouse or any judicial facility unless you are filing or appearing for a scheduled emergency matter," State Rep. Liz Hanbidge (D-61) said.

Official emergency matters include mental health reviews, bail hearings, temporary protection from abuse orders, emergency child custody, juvenile intake and detention issues, and more. See the full listing of emergency matters here.

Hours for such emergencies are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily.
