NORRISTOWN, PA — Montgomery County announced a new logo and seal Monday which they say "celebrates the County’s people, places, and wide variety of experiences available within its borders."
The "rebrand" comes following more than a year of research, interviews with residents and an analysis of other county logos and brands around the county.
The logo features the historic courthouse in Norristown surrounded by buildings, fields, a river, trees, path, and a home. The color palette of frost, cobalt, and marigold was selected to capture "authority, dependability, trust, and stability," the county said.

Officials said they identified a series of ideals that defined the county, and which they wanted the seal and logo to embody, including accessibility, transportation, diversity, natural beauty, and community mindedness, among others.
"The new logo embodies these ideals through an artistic interpretation of Montgomery County’s government and diverse neighborhoods," the county said in a statement.

The county created a new, refined version of their seal that simplifies the background while strengthening the lines.
The seal has previously been updated only twice since it was created in 1902, once in 1985 to add the Dutch lily, the county's official flower, and then again in 1999, to make it gender inclusive.
It is the county's first brand update in history.
The updated seal will be the symbol of official county business, while the logo will be used for the county's communications, as well as various marketing initiatives.
