Montgomery County Seeks Highest Voter Turnout In Nation In 2024
County authorities are vastly expanding their voter services offices and drop off boxes in an effort to get more people to vote.
NORRISTOWN, PA — Montgomery County government has doubled the number of voter offices and increased the ballot drop off boxes ahead of the general election in November.
It's part of a larger effort to bolster the county's voting related services and election security, and make the county a national leader in voter turnout.
There will now be eight Voter Services satellite offices and 18 drop boxes, an increase over the four offices and 12 boxes available during the spring primary.

Local leaders are concerned about more than just the security of Montco's elections. They want to leverage the county's influence to set a positive example for the rest of the state and nation.
"There are still many counties across Pennsylvania that do not make any of these voter access options available," Montgomery County Commissioner and elections chief Neil K. Makhija said in a statement. "We want Montgomery County to set a standard for voter accessibility."

Officials say they aim for Montgomery County to once again have one of the highest voter turnouts in the country in 2024, as they did during the 2022 midterms.
With the addition of the new drop boxes, about 50 percent of the county's voting age population will be within a five minute drive of a box.
The county has 617,003 registered voters as of Thursday, according to the Pennsylvania Department of State.
Mail-in ballots can be dropped off in any county drop box or at any of the satellite offices.
Satellite offices will be open on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays starting Friday, Oct. 4 through Monday, Oct. 28. Hours for individual offices are online here.
