More Than 2,000 Without Power In Norristown

NORRISTOWN, PA — Heavy winds impacted Norristown's power grid more than any other municipality in the county early Monday, leaving more than 2,000 without power.

More than 8,200 Montgomery County residents reported outages as of around 10:30 a.m., according to PECO.

Norristown's 2,232 — about 15 percent of all customers in town — led the way for the county.

A large segment of those outages were concentrated on the east edge of town, between E. Oak Street and E. Airy Street.

PECO estimated most outages would be restored by 6 p.m.

Heavy winds battered the region on Monday, with gusts up to 60 miles per hour bringing down wires and trees and leading to numerous road closures around the area.
