New Cooking School Offers Healthy Home Cooking Know How
East Norriton's Really Cooking with Robin is bringing healthy alternatives to our area.
In an age where restaurants are around every corner, a home-cooked meal is hard to come by for some families.
Robin and Joseph Dillman are hoping to stop this trend in its tracks with their new cooking school, Really Cooking with Robin, located in the Hillcrest Plaza Shopping Center in East Norriton.
Despite their relatively recent opening on June 1, they’ve already developed a good following and have a number of positive reviews.

"The community has responded great," said says Robin Dillman. "It’s like coming to a friend’s house according to customers. We’ve had one couple back five times so far, another three times. We’ve had a family book a birthday party, and now they’re booking a mommy-and-me sort of class."
Birthday and other small parties aren’t the only events RCWR has to offer – the business has date nights, a summer camp for kids and adult cooking classes, just to name a few.

The main objective of RCWR is to take typically unhealthy foods and find ways to put a healthy spin on things. Dillman believes that this practice is a positive one to teach to the community’s youth.
"I'm trying to teach, low carb, low sugar, and low fat way of cooking," said Dillman, who holds two-hour sessions for two different age groups during the week. "I try to teach the kids good healthy eating habits, instead of eating frozen, unhealthy foods, we want them to know how to cook healthy alternatives."
RCWR does this by teaching kids how to make sweet potato tots made with olive oil instead of being fried, and by teaching them how to make healthier versions of hot pockets.
But the cause doesn’t just stop at kids; RCWR holds adult cooking classes as well.
"We have a cooking class for adults where do the same thing," said Dillman. "We just made a healthier version of a cheese steak the other night."
Joseph Dillman believes that this organization provides more than just a cooking lesson.
"It’s more the experience than the learning," said Joseph. "You learn to enjoy cooking again, nowadays we’re always too quick to go out, if you want to enjoy a new homemade dinner with your family, this is where to come."
Robin also believes the friendship aspect makes RCWR special.
"Food brings people together," said Robin who learned everything she knew from her mother. "The main concept here is it’s a place where people can gather and have fun with cooking again, there’s no mistakes, there’s no frills, it’s just fun cooking. Everyone from all different ages and walks of life can come together around a meal and find something in common. It’s like having friends over for a dinner party, people enjoy it so much they stay past dinner, and offer to help do the dishes, but we never let them!"
Really Cooking with Robin is open 10 a.m. through 10 p.m., Monday thru Saturday and by appointment on Sunday. For more information, go to their website at www.reallycookingwithrobin.com or find them up on Facebook.
