New Sinkhole Shuts Down Route 202 In Montgomery County

Sinkhole issues persist in Montgomery County.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — A major highway was shut down in Montgomery County Thursday morning after a sinkhole opened up in the area.

Route 202's northbound lanes in Upper Merion were entirely closed to traffic. The closure runs between Henderson Road and Saulin Boulevard.

The southbound lanes, meanwhile, have been reduced to one lane in the same stretch.

Motorists should "avoid the area if possible," local police said, and plan for delays.

Sinkholes plagued the region through the summer, and the King of Prussia area was proven especially susceptible. Related issues lingered for months and caused lanes of 202 to be closed for weeks.
