Norristown Councilman Marlon Millner Resigns

Millner submitted his letter of resignation with "tears in (his) eyes," effective Wednesday.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Norristown's Councilman Marlon Millner has resigned, effective August 1, according to a letter posted on social media and submitted to the council.

Millner was first elected in 2009, and was then re-elected in 2013.

He pointed to a desire to spend more time with his family in his letter. His wife, Diana Aubourg Millner, died in August of 2015 of breast cancer.

"After many painful losses, and with a need to renew my own sense of purpose in the world, I will return to the much cherished life of a private citizen," he wrote. "I hope people will respect my strong desire for privacy, for me and my children, and my exit from public life as a councilman."
