Norristown Detective Honored By DA For Major Armed Robbery Arrest

Excellent work, Detective.

NORRISTOWN, PA — A Norristown police officer was among those honored by the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office during a ceremony on Thursday afternoon.

Norristown's Detective Charles Leeds was recognized by DA Kevin Steele alongside Detective Michael Glauner of Pottstown and Detective Robert Hill Jr. of Abington for helping apprehend Kenneth Jones, a wanted armed robber.

Leeds commendation was given "for the exemplary investigation of a one-day crime spree where the defendant, Kenneth Jones, robbed four different victims at gunpoint in Norristown, Pottstown and Abington."

The robberies led to lockdowns in Radnor schools, and the investigation led officials all the way to Georgia, where Jones had fled.

The three are among 34 law enforcement members and civilians who were honored with commendations during the ceremony at the Montgomery County Public Safety Training Campus.

For his quick-thinking and decisive action that helped rescue his sister from an assault by an
