Norristown To Feature The Santaland Diaries

The incredible true story of spending Christmastime as an elf in Macy's Santaland display is coming to the borough.

Just in time for the holiday season, Theatre Horizon is following up it’s hit production of Black Nativity with The Santaland Diaries, famed author David Sedaris’ true story about his time spent as a Christmas elf in Macy’s Santaland display, the theatre announced in a press release.

The show is set to run for three nights, December 18-20, at Theatre Horizon on 401 Dekalb Street.

Philadelphia Theatre favorite Keith Conallen returns to this one-man show in the role of Crumpet, Sedaris’ lovable, curmudgeonly elf, and brings back another night of sassy commentary on America’s consumerized Christmas.

The show is directed by Matt Pfeiffer (The 39 Steps). Feeling a little more naughty than nice this holiday season? The off-beat Christmas story that launched David Sedaris’ career, The Santaland Diaries, tells of Sedaris’ experiences playing Crumpet the elf at Macy’s in New York City. In this irreverent tale of elf-training, bad Santas, abusive customers, and the many humiliations of our consumerized Christmas culture, actor Keith Conallen brings to life the sardonic essay that established Sedaris as one of America’s preeminent humorists.
