Norristown Fire Department Earns Reaccreditation In Advanced Rescue

Well done, Norristown Fire Department.

NORRISTOWN, PA – The Norristown Fire Department has earned their re-accreditation for advanced rescue services, the municipality announced on their website Monday.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner said that Norristown has been successfully re-accredited through August 30, 2019.

“I would like to congratulate members of the Norristown Fire Department for achieving re-accreditation, additionally, and most importantly, our residents should know that highly skilled and equipped firefighters are ready at a moment’s notice to assist them in an emergency.” said Fire Chief Tom O’Donnell in a statement on the municipality's website.

The program aims to judge the equipment and rescue hardware requirements of vehicle and machinery rescue, in addition to manpower, training, and education requirements of staff.

Departments are also judged based on response procedures and standard operating guidelines.
