Norristown Fire Marshal Retires After 34 Years Of Service

NORRISTOWN, PA -- The chief of the Norristown Fire Department is stepping down after 34 years of service.

Charles Sweeney, 68, announced his retirement this week, the Norristown Fire Department said.

Sweeney began his career at age 18 as a volunteer.

Assistant Fire Chief Richard Lockhart has been named interim fire marshal in the wake of Sweeney's retirement, the municipality said.
