Norristown Fire Department, HS Football Team Install Smoke Detectors

The fire department and Norristown High School's football team worked together to install smoke detectors in 25 local neighborhoods over the past few weeks.

The "grand blitz" on Kohn Street took place on Saturday, and the whole process was completed after about two weeks, the fire department said.

The team checked homes to insure detectors had been installed, and installed them where they were defective or absent.

The fire department said the partnership was a great success.
