Norristown Issues Updated Snow Plan Ahead Of Storm

In the wake of the blizzard fiasco, Norristown is doing what it can to be prepared for the upcoming storm.

NORRISTOWN, PA -- In the wake of the blizzard fiasco, Norristown is doing what it can to be prepared for the upcoming storm.

The borough has divided itself into five separate snow removal districts: west, north, Norris Hills, east, and center.

The west district is subdivided into a southwest subsection which includes several smaller and narrow streets that require the use of smaller plows.

The borough hopes this reorganization will help them more efficiently execute their plowing efforts.

The coming storm, predicted to last from late Monday into Wednesday with varying intensity, will not be as strong as the recent blizzard. But it should serve as a good trial run for the borough after the struggle to clear the streets of snow in the wake of the last storm.

Two municipal plow trucks are assigned to each snow removal district, the borough said.

All of the plow operators will have a map and listing of the areas in their assigned district. Plowing in each district will be concurrent, meaning that each district will be plowed at the same time. Once a crew has completed their assigned routes in their district, they will continue repeating their route in their assigned district until plowing operations cease and all roads are clear of snow and ice.
