Norristown Launches First Capital Improvement Plan In Borough History

Big things ahead for Norristown, including improvements to Municipal Hall and the development of a new police and recreation center.

NORRISTOWN, PA -- Norristown has officially launched its first ever Capital Improvement Plan, a strategic path to improve the quality of life in the community over the years to come.

As the borough describes it, the plan "facilitates planned and necessary large scale improvements in municipality infrastructure." These include improvements to Municipal Hall and the development of a police and recreation center, according to the borough.

The plan will also lay out economic initiatives that will encourage development and embark on "strategic property acquisition," the plan's fact sheet states.

The borough said that funding will come chiefly from loans and paid debt, and that taxes will not be raised. Projects will be chosen by Municipal Council and citizen input will be considered, officials added. Categories for projects include:

Public CIP meetings will be held on October 6 at 12:30 p.m. and then again at 6 p.m. in Municipal Hall.
