Norristown Launches 'Norristown Police Foundation' Nonprofit
The primary goal of the Norristown Police Foundation nonprofit is to further strengthen community relations with law enforcement.

Norristown, PA -- The Norristown Police Department has announced the creation of a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Corporation called the Norristown Police Foundation.
The process to establish the corporation was started in late 2015 and finalized in April of this year with the assistance of Norristown attorney Sean E. Cullen, Esq.
The Foundation Bylaws identify the purpose “to purchase equipment for the benefit of the Norristown Police Department and to organize and facilitate education and community relations”.

The Norristown Police Department said that they have continued to increase its operational capability by strengthening leadership at all levels and continues to build relationships with the community.
The foundation will be an additional resource to aid the department in making Norristown safer, a press release states.

The Foundation board of directors is comprised of not only police department leadership and rank and file officers, but also community members.
The diversity of the board adds to the transparency and legitimacy of the foundation and the goals it wishes to achieve, the release states.
During the Foundation’s initial board meeting, board members discussed goals that include enhancing the ability of officers to engage with a diverse community, enhancing the leadership potential of the police, and promoting partnerships between the police and the community, according to the release.
The Foundation will also support the police department’s ongoing programs such as the Law Enforcement Explorers, Seven Days Before Christmas, and recognition/award ceremonies.
