A Norristown man has been sentenced to prison for attempting to rape a 12-year-old girl.
NORRISTOWN, PA — A Norristown man has been sentenced to prison for attempting to rape a 12-year-old girl, according to court documents.
Quamir Nafis Ramsey, 19, will spend the next eight to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of attempted rape of a child, court documents show.
The Times Herald reports that Ramsey knew the girl's family.

Ramsey was visiting her residence on Jan. 29 when the child awoke on the couch to Ramsey inappropriately touching her, the report states.
Ramsey then reportedly tried to rape her but the girl struggled and eventually Ramsey stopped.

Ramsey will also face 10 years of probation following his release, and will be required to report his address to state police.
