Breaking: Police say that a serial purse snatcher in Norristown has been specifically targeting Hispanic women.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Police say that a serial purse snatcher in Norristown has been specifically targeting Hispanic women.

Numerous incidents have been reported over recent weeks, according to authorities.

The suspect typically strikes in alley ways and breezeways between buildings, coming up from behind his victim and snatching away whatever they are carrying, police said.

The suspect usually walks and runs but may also be riding a smaller black or green BMX bike.

The incidents appear to concentrated in the area of the 800 block of Swede Street.

He is described as a black male, aged 24 to 34, standing about 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall, police said. He is either clean shaven or has a light goatee.

Suspects are often female, often appear to be Hispanic, and are sometimes not paying attention to their surroundings, authorities said.

Police urge all residents to always be aware of their surroundings.
