Norristown Releases 2015 Annual Report

How did the Municipality of Norristown do in 2015? A new report outlining challenges, accomplishments, and milestones has been published.

NORRISTOWN, PA -- The Municipality of Norristown has released its 2015 Annual Report outlining municipal accomplishments, challenges, and milestones at the Municipal Council Meeting held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 in Council Chambers at Norristown Municipal Hall.

In accordance with the requirements of the Municipal code and in an effort to continue to support the Municipal Council’s goals of increased transparency and improved engagement with the community at large, the first formal Annual Report was released.

Among the achieved successes of both Municipal Council and administration in the last fiscal year included;

  • Completion of 7 audits in less than 15 months and operating firmly in the black;
  • Reduction of crime by 19%;
  • Increased government transparency and citizen engagement;
  • Not raising taxes in 2015; and
  • Facilitating meaningful community and economic development in Norristown.

Referring to the 2015 accomplishments, Council President, Sonya Sanders said, “I’m pleased to report that, through the work of Mr. Jones and the team and with the support of Municipal Council, we have moved forward on the path laid out by the Municipal Council. The Annual Report not only reflects some of those outcomes of the work undertaken but also identifies opportunities and challenges before us as we pursue sustainability.”
