NORRISTOWN, PA — Where are Norristown's 50 worst roads? A new borough-wide project aims to repair them all.

The municipality officially launched Phase 1 of its Comprehensive Road Maintenance Plan this week.

The determination of road quality was made by a joint team of the Municipal Engineer and Pennoni Associates. According to officials, the $3.5 million in repairs will improve safety and ease of access. Work will include milling, paving, and installation of handicap ramps.

"We’re all excited to see the fruits of our labor taking root," said Sonya Sanders, president of Norristown's Municipal Council. "This is the most ambitious local roads project Norristown has ever seen and will benefit our entire community. We’re excited to see this project get started and would like to thank staff and our engineering firm for helping make it happen."

The following streets will be repaired as part of Phase 1. The rest of the 50 roads will be repaired in future phases.
