Norristown Sprinters Blaze 55 Dash In New York City

NEW YORK CITY, NY - The Norristown Area High School track and field team made the trip up to New York City’s famed 168th Street Armory on Tuesday for the Marine Corps Holiday Classic.

They received a boost in the early afternoon portion of the proceedings, both boys and girls placed highly in the finals of the 55 meter dash.

In the girl’s 55 dash, Shelia Day smashed her personal best with a 7.38 state qualifying time.

Freshman Akeem Fields, meanwihle, wound up taking second overall in boys event in a time of 7.21. To watch Fields’ race, click here.

The early season indoor track meet includes unique and rarely run events, such as the mile steeplechase.
