Norristown Student Wins Selective $2,000 Scholarship From Dunkin

The local student was one of just 25 awardees, selected from a pool of more than 900 applicants, Dunkin said.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Two high school students from Montgomery County have won special scholarships from Dunkin as part of a regional competition, including one from Norristown Area School.

Devon Carpenter will receive a $2,000 scholarship, the company announced. He's one of just 25 students selected from a pool of more than 900 applicants.

In addition, North Penn's Catherine Cavanaugh was also selected as a recipient of the $2,000 award.

"We are proud to continue the tradition to further students’ educational goals in our community as well as celebrate a major milestone this year: providing over half a million dollars to our local students since the program’s inception in 2009," Perry Shah, local Dunkin’ franchisee and Philadelphia regional advertising committee chairman, said in a statement.

Winners were chosen based on "academic records, demonstrated leadership skills, and overall commitment to their schools and local communities."

All told, $50,000 was awarded to students around the Delaware Valley.
