A Norristown woman was airlifted to Penn Presbyterian Hospital early Friday morning after a multiple-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 476 in Lower Merion Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police in Philadelphia.
Police said Alexis Fuller Hill, 19, of Norristown, was mechanically removed from the 2014 Hyundai Veloster she was driving before being flown to Penn Presbyterian via PennStar Medevac. Police said Fuller Hill sustained broken ribs and head injuries but is in stable condition and expected to survive.

The crash occurred at about 11:24 p.m. on I-476 northbound at mile marker 14.2, police said.
Initially, a Jeep Grand Cherokee crashed into the guardrail, becoming disabled, and blocking the right portion of the northbound lane, police said. According to police, Marcos J. Olivera, 37, of Silver Spring, Md., stopped and exited a Honda Odyssey he was driving to give assistant to the Jeep's driver, who was not named by police. A 2017 International Harvester Tractor Truck – whose driver was also not named by police – also stopped and exited the vehicle to give assistance, police said.

Two vehicles, the Hyundai and the Chrysler 200, were stopped behind the aforementioned vehicles when a 2015 Volvo Straight Truck struck the rear end of the Hyundai, police said. The truck pushed the Hyundai roughly one tenth of a mile, striking the Honda and the Jeep, and pushed the Hyundai into the International Harvester, police said.
When the vehicles came to rest, the Hyundai was "severely damaged with the majority of the vehicle being lodged under the front of the (Volvo) truck with the operator entrapped in the (Hyundai)," police said.
The Volvo's driver, 43-year-old Aboubacar Oumarou of Harrisburg, has been charged with driving a vehicle as unsafe speeds, police said.
