Oil Spills Onto Route 202 After Dump Truck Flips

About 40 gallons of fuel spilled into the highway, causing highly hazardous conditions.

BERWYN, PA -- A fuel tank ruptured and oil spilled out onto Route 202 south after a dump truck stuck a highway divider and flipped over on Wednesday night, officials said.

Berwyn Fire and emergency personnel were called to the scene near Old Eagle School Road at about 1:54 a.m. Wednesday morning.

About 40 gallons of fuel spilled into the highway, causing highly hazardous conditions, according to the Berwyn Fire Company.

Fire crews worked with Abel Brothers Towing to contain the spill.

The truck was eventually uprighted and taken from the scene.

Emergency crews cleared the scene by 4 a.m.

PennDOT and J&J Environmental handled the fuel spill clean up, officials said. 

The ramp from Rt. 422 East to Rt. 202 South was closed until 5:00 a.m., according to officials.
