The work will affect various roads in the Bridgeport area throughout 2017, PECO said.

BRIDGEPORT, PA -- PECO announced it's investment of $4.8 million into the Gladwyne area's natural gas delivery system that will enhance safety and reliability.

According to PECO, work on the project began in January and will continue through December this year as part of a multi-year plan to modernize PECO’s natural gas system.

PECO will work to replacing existing natural gas main and bare steel natural gas service lines with new plastic pipe during the project.

Work will be coordinated with the township or other utility projects to minimize the impact on area traffic and PECO customers, according to PECO.

"We continuously review our natural gas distribution system to identify opportunities to further improve service and enhance safety," Ron Bradley, vice president of Gas Operations, said in a statement. "This work ensures we can continue to provide safe and reliable natural gas service to our customers."

The work is part of more than $150 million in capital investments PECO is making to its natural gas system this year, including inspecting equipment, completing necessary equipment repairs or replacements, performing preventive maintenance work, and installing additional natural gas main and service lines to bring natural gas service to new customers, PECO said.
