Pennsylvania Passes Bill To Postpone Primary Election To June
A bill to postpone the 2020 Pennsylvania primary election to June due to the coronavirus outbreak has been passed. It now goes to Gov. Wolf.
PENNSYLVANIA — A bill to postpone the 2020 Pennsylvania primary election to June due to the coronavirus outbreak was passed by the state legislature on Wednesday, officials announced. It now heads to Gov. Wolf's desk to be signed.
The primary, which had been scheduled for April 28, will now be held on June 2, once Gov. Wolf signs the bill, as he is expected to do. The legislation, Senate Bill 422, was unanimously passed in both the state house and state senate.

Discussions to postpone the primary had been underway for weeks as the impacts of coronavirus made themselves felt across the commonwealth.

The PA Senate has passed legislation moving Pennsylvania's April 28 primary election to June 2 amid #COVID19 concerns. The bill would also permit counties to consolidate polling locations, so that fewer places would be exposed to groups of voters.
June 2 will now be quite a busy day for primaries, with 11 states and the District of Columbia now scheduled.
Some counties that were hit harder early on, like Montgomery, have been encouraging residents for weeks to request mail-in ballots. Mail-in ballots for the June 2 election can still be requested online at VotesPA.com.
There were 11 deaths and 1,127 cases of coronavirus in Pennsylvania as of Wednesday afternoon.
