Police Briefs
The following information was supplied by the Norristown Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Possession
- According to reports from the , Michael Baker, of the 1200 block of West Russell Street in Philadelphia, was charged with a misdemeanor drug violation and loitering and prowling Thursday, Nov. 24. Police were dispatched to the area of the 400 block of Forest Avenue for a report of a male at a victim’s window allegedly making noises. The victim states that the man fled the area when she turned on the light in her bedroom. The only description the victim could give was that the male was wearing some type of striped shirt with the color blue. Police came into contact with Baker in the area wearing clothes matching the victim’s description. Baker was then taken to see if the victim recognized him and a positive I.D. was made. Police claim Baker attempted to crush a glass pipe police state is used to smoke crack-cocaine. Police also allegedly found a white powdery substance inside a plastic bag inside Baker’s pants, which they suspect to be cocaine.
Burglary
- Police took a report at the police station for a burglary that occurred Thursday, Nov. 24, on the 700 block of Chain Street. The victim claims someone came into her apartment and stole $6,150 worth of goods from her apartment while she was gone. The victim said there was no indication of where the burglar entered the residence because the door and windows were locked. There are not suspects at this time. The victim was advised of her rights and issued a victim’s rights pamphlet.
- Terry S. Walker Jr., of the 900 block of West Washington Street; Lauren Hill, of the 1000 block of Cottonwood Drive in Collegeville; and George Wise, who has no known address, were charged with burglary, criminal trespass, criminal conspiracy and three counts of drug charges Nov. 9. According to the report, police responded to the 700 block of West Marshall Street for a burglary in progress. The three were found in a vacant first floor apartment. After the three were taken into custody, police reportedly discovered a large amount of white powdery, rock-like substance in plain view sitting on top of an empty television stand. Also on the stand were allegedly several clear straws cut into pieces with several pieces heat sealed and containing some of the white substance. In the kitchen was a small working digital scale and several empty “apple” bags, which are reportedly used in the packaging and distribution of narcotics, police said. None of the individuals found inside the apartment lived there or had any legitimate business there. Police field tested the substance while on the scene and it reportedly came back positive for the presence of cocaine.
Assault
- Elizabeth A. Williams, of the 300 block of East Airy Street, was charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault and harassment Nov. 9. Police were dispatched to the above location for a report of a stabbing. Upon police arrival, the victim was located on the second floor of the residence. He was reportedly bleeding profusely from a large stab wound to his left leg. The victim told police that he had come how to the residence after drinking with Williams when she allegedly became angry. He states she began to yell and get physical with him. He states she allegedly shoved him and then he allegedly shoved back. According to the victim, at some point during the physical altercation, the accused produced a knife and reportedly plunged it into his leg. After which she called 911 to report the incident. The victim was transported to the hospital and Williams was arrested and taken to the police department for processing.
DUI
- Kenneth Garcia, of the 00 block of Liberty Avenue in West Norriton, was charged with driving while under the influence, furnishing a minor with alcohol and driving while suspended. Police state that they observed Garcia allegedly purchase malt liquor for his 16-year-old stepdaughter. Police also state that they witnessed him then drive his stepdaughter and himself. When Garcia exited the vehicle, he allegedly had difficulty maintaining balance and nearly fell over the railing at . After being arrested for purchasing alcohol for a minor, he reportedly had difficulty following simple instructions. He was then transported to Montgomery Hospital where he consented to a chemical test of his blood alcohol content.
Public Drunkenness
- Rebekah Hayes, of the 1600 block of Cricket Terrace, was charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct Thursday, Nov. 24. According to the report, police were allegedly called on three separate occasions in an hour to the 1400 block of Pine Street for a report of a disturbance involving Hayes. Police state that she was allegedly found hiding at the Pine Street residence. Hayes allegedly demonstrated several of the signs of intoxication including slurred speech and bloodshot eyes. Hayes reportedly was trying to start fights with Pine Street residents and was previously advised to leave. After the third call, she was taken into custody and held until sober.
- Bruhilda Vitar, of the 500 block of Buttonwood Street, was arrested for public drunkenness Friday, Nov. 25. According to the report, police were dispatched to Washington and Forest avenues for a report of a suspicious female. Upon arrival to the area, police located Vitar. Police claim she had a strong odor of alcohol on her, glassy bloodshot eyes, an unsteady stance and slurred speech. She was arrested, transported to municipal hall and held until sober.
- David White, of the 700 block of West Lafayette Street, was arrested for public drunkenness Saturday, Nov. 26. Police were on patrol in the area of Pearl and Main streets and reportedly observed White stumbling on Pearl Street. Police state he allegedly smelled of alcohol, was unsteady on his feet and had bloodshot eyes. He was taken into custody, transported to the police station and held until sober.
- Edwin Mendieta-Monoz, of the 700 block of George Street, was charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct Sunday, Nov. 27. Mendieta-Monoz reportedly refused to exit on the 400 block of West Marshall Street and had to be physically escorted out by staff. After which he allegedly became comabative and allegedly began shouting obscenities at the staff. He reportedly did this while on a public sidewalk, which created a disturbance. Police state Mendieta-Monoz smelled strongly of alcohol and refused to leave the area despite attempts by friends to get him to leave. He was arrested, transported to the police department and held until sober.
- Jose G. Gamboa, of the 600 block of Sandy Street, was charged with public drunkenness Sunday, Nov. 27. Gamboa reportedly was involved in a fight at La Mina, which is located on the 400 block of Arch Street. Police report smelling a strong odor of alcohol on Gamboa. He also reportedly had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and an unsteady stance. He was placed under arrest, transported to municipal hall, processed and then held until sober. Police state he had numerous lacerations to the face but refused medical treatment.
- Marcus T. Lewis, of the 1200 block of Ridge Pike in Plymouth, was charged with public drunkenness Sunday, Nov. 27. Lewis was reportedly found in a public parking lot at 3 a.m. Police claim he smelled of alcohol, had red glassy eyes and an open container in the care he exited from. He did not live in the area and neighbors complained about him allegedly creating a disturbance. He was taken into custody and held until sober.
Underage Possession of Alcohol
- Hannah Tuzzi, 18, of the 800 block of Haws Avenue; Mark Muniz, 18, of the 1000 block of West Main Street; and Augstin Obregon, 18, of the 900 block of West Airy Street, were all charged with underage possession of alcohol Saturday, Nov. 26. Police observed the three individuals leave the parking lot after another individual handed them a 12-pack of Budweiser beer. Police pulled them over and also allegedly discovered an additional eight cans of Coors Light beer.
Disorderly Conduct
- Bradley G. Covey, of the 400 block of Nicholas Drive in Southampton, was charged with disorderly conduct Saturday, Nov. 26. Police were dispatched to the 400 block of Green Street for a report of a mail carrier allegedly being threatened as she was attempting to deliver mail at the above location. The carrier alleged Covey asked for his mail and was told he would have to wait a few minutes because the carriers just arrived to the apartment complex. Covey allegedly became angry and started cursing at the carrier. Covey then reportedly left when he was told police were going to be called. While talking with the mail carrier, Covey came back to retrieve his mail and allegedly admitted to having an argument with the carrier. He said the carrier cursed at him first; however, the carrier denied this allegation. When he got his mail, the carrier had not closed the box yet and Covey stated he did not know law prohibited this. Covey was cited by mail.
- Gerard Geisel, of the 2900 block of Tollgate Drive, was charged with disorderly conduct Sunday, Nov. 27. Police reportedly observed Geisel urinating beside a parked vehicle on the 100 block of Dekalb Street where numerous people were walking to their vehicle after getting off the Septa train. Geisel reportedly apologized for his action after being cited for public urination. Police state Geisel’s actions served no legitimate purpose.
Criminal Trespass
- Kaysan Q. Stewart, of the 800 block of Green Street, was charged with criminal trespass Thursday, Nov. 24. Police were called to the 100 block of West Marshall Street for a report of a suspicious person. Police spoke with a resident on the above block, who said that a neighbor’s door was forced open and broken. The neighbor also said no one lived at the address because the previous occupant was deceased and the family was selling the home. Police then went to inspect the property and discovered a broken glass with fresh blood on the door and steps. Police entered the residence and reportedly observed a male, who allegedly smelled of alcohol, asleep in the couch. Police awoke the individual and told police he thought he was at home. He was arrested and transported to the police department to await arraignment. Police left victim’s rights information at the residence along with contact information regarding the incident.
Fraud
- A report of possible fraud was filled at the Norristown Police Department Wednesday, Nov.23. The victim stated she was aware of the penalties associated with filing a false report. She told police that she attempted to cash a payroll check at the store on West Marshall Street last week and was advised by a clerk that there was a warrant out for her rest. Police could find no warrants based on the victim’s name and personal information. The victim believes her identity may have been stolen by the clerk or from filling out an application for employment with a local cleaning company. The victim was provided with I.D. theft information and a victim’s rights pamphlet.
Prescription Forgery
- Cortez Butler, of the 1000 block of Willow Street, was charged with prescription forgery, theft by deception and criminal attempt of theft by unlawful taking Nov. 9. Police were dispatched to on the 1300 block of Powell Street for a report of a man attempting to pass a forged prescription to the pharmacist. While going to call, Butler left the pharmacy. Police later found him walking south on the 1200 block of Willow Street. He was then detained and identified by the pharmacist as the individual allegedly attempting to fill the prescription. He was arrested, transported to the police station and held for arraignment.
Theft
- A victim reported to police that his roommate’s acquaintance allegedly stole jewelry from his residence on the 1600 block of DeKalb Street Friday, Nov. 25. According to the victim, a large amount of jewelry valued at approximately $5,000 was taken. The victim is putting together a detailed list of the missing items.
- Police responded to the 1000 block of West Marshall Street for a report of theft of registration Wednesday, Nov. 23. Police spoke with the victim who said the theft occurred sometime during the previous overnight and does not know who might have stolen his vehicle registration. The victim received a victim’s rights pamphlet and victim’s compensation packet.
Vandalism
- A report of vandalism to a business on the 00 block of West Main Street was filed with police Friday, Nov.25. The reporting person said the store was closed the previous Thursday at 6:30 p.m. When he returned the next morning at 8, a window was cracked. Police identified that a window was broken but not completely shattered. A victim’s rights handout was issued.
- A victim reported to police that he parked his vehicle on the 400 block of East Moore Street Wednesday, Nov. 23, when it was vandalized. The victim states the mirror and windshield to his 2001 Volkswagen Golf was damaged. According to the victim, the damage may be related to damage done to his neighbor’s home recently. Police issued him a victim’s rights pamphlet and compensation application.
Criminal Mischief
- A victim flagged down police on the 700 block of Green Street to report an object thrown at her windshield while she was driving Thursday, Nov. 24. The victim claims an acquaintance allegedly threw a bottle and struck the windshield of her vehicle, which caused a crack. The accused was arrested an hour later on a separate criminal charge.
- A report of a 2011 Subaru Impreza being vandalized was filed at the Norristown Police Department Wednesday, Nov. 23. The victim stated he was aware of the penalties for filing a false police report and went on to say the criminal mischief seems to have occurred twice. The first time reportedly occurred between Nov. 17around 6 p.m. to Nov. 17 at approximately 7:30 a.m. and involved the driver’s door mirror being pushed forward toward the front of the car. The victim said the mirror was not designed to move that way and is now broken. The second incident occurred during the Nov. 22-Nov. 23 overnight. The second time, the same mirror, which had yet to be fixed, was completely smashed. The victim states he has no idea who may be causing the damage to his vehicle. He initially thought the first incident was an accident; however, he now believes it is intentional with the second incident. The damage is estimated to be $400. The victim received a victim’s rights form.
- Unknown actors reportedly threw eggs at a victim’s vehicle that was parked on the 700 block of Kohn Street Wednesday, Nov. 23. The victim believes it was done by neighbors who she talked with twice before about them playing football.
Warrant
- Harvey D. Lewis, of the 1000 block of Powell Street, was arrested for an activie criminal warrant Friday, Nov. 25.

- Tiara Dawkins, of the 400 block of West Airy Street, for harassment.
- Shamr Benjamin, of the 1000 block of Willow Street, for harassment.
- Vinny Scotti, of the 500 block of Kohn Street, for criminal mischief.
- Kaysan Stewart, of the 800 block of Green Street, for harassment.
- Eric Fuchrer, of the 600 block of Sandy Street, for harassment.
- Mark Hobbs, of the 6000 block of Buist Avenue in Philadelphia, for harassment.
