Police still searching for Norristown bank robbers

Three masked men ambushed an armored car driver just outside the Bank of America on Sandy Street Tuesday afternoon. The suspects are still on the loose

According to reports in The Times Herald, three masked men, armed with "long guns," fell upon a Brinks security truck driver just outside the on Sandy Street Wednesday at approximately 2:14 p.m.

No shots were fired, and the suspects never entered the bank, but the Brinks driver was allegedly assaulted and robbed of an undisclosed amount of money while making a delivery to the bank. Authorites have cleared the driver of any involvement for the time being.

Police from Lower Providence and Plymouth descended on Norristown Wednesday afternoon to aid local law enforcement in the search for the suspects.

FBI Special Agent J.J. Klaver, of the Philadelphia division, identified the suspects as three black or Hispanic males.

The suspects reportedly fled the scene in a dark-colored Chrysler Town & Country. That vehicle was found on an incline behind the bank and near the Regatta Apartment Homes complex.
