Powell Street Fire In Norristown Declared Accidental

The Valentines Day blaze was not arson.

NORRISTOWN, PA -- A fire on Powell Street that began on February 14 has been declared accidental.

The Norristown Fire Department and mutual aid companies were alerted to a rowhome fire on the 1200 block of Powell Street just before midnight, officials said.

Fire was showing from two windows on the second story of the three story home.

Units placed multiple lines leading up tot he home, and quickly extinguished all flames.

The fire was completely under control in about an hour and a half, officials said.

The fire began in the second-floor front bedroom, according to a Times Herald report. Candles accidentally lit other combustible materials on fire, Norristown Fire Chief Thomas O’Donnell said.
