Rally Against Hatred And Bigotry To Be Held In Norristown

Organizers of the Norristown rally aim to "denounce the racism that was recently demonstrated in Charlottesville."

NORRISTOWN, PA — A rally in Norristown in response to the recent events in Charlottesville, Va. will be held next Monday, Aug. 28.

The Greater Norristown Area chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is organizing the event, which has been labeled the "Unity in the Community Peace Rally."

Organizers of the rally aim to "denounce the racism that was recently demonstrated in Charlottesville."

Rallies and vigils in response to Charlottesville have drawn hundreds in places like Abington, Phoenixville, and Pottstown over the past two weeks.

The NAACP said they will be joined by elected officials, religious leaders, and people from the community of all racial and ethnic backgrounds at the event.

"Join us and help us become a force of one against the hatred and bigotry that have become such a threat to our way of life," organizers said.

The rally will take place in front of Norristown Municipal Hall on 235 E. Airy Street at 6 p.m. next Monday, Aug. 28.
