Recycling Initiative In Norristown Presents Opportunity For Businesses
JP Mascaro and Sons is offering a new opportunity for businesses to reward residents to recycling.

A new recycling initiative in Norristown is giving businesses an opportunity for promotion while also encouraging recycling.
J.P. Mascaro and Sons has launched an incentive program that awards points to customers who recycle, and those points can then be redeemed at local businesses for discounts on purchases.
“We’ve started a pretty unique program,” said Frank Sau, director of communications for J.P. Mascaro and Sons.

Sau said there are two main goals to the program: improve recycling rates in Norristown, and promote local, mom and pop businesses with free advertising.
“There are no catches, it’s an absolutely free program,” Sau said. “If you’re a Norristown area business and want to be involved, let us know.”

Sau said that the program offers businesses the same kind of promotional benefits as running advertisements.
Categories of businesses that are participating in the program in other towns include restaurants, entertainment, museums, and health and beauty shops.
In April, Norristown delivered about 20,000 recycling toters to residents in an effort to improve recycling rates. The hope is that by incentivizing using the points system, rates will go even higher.
Cardboard, newspaper, aluminum, glass, and plastics 1-7 are all recyclable in Norristown.
