'Schuylkill Scrub' Aims To Clean Up Norristown
The rivershed wide initiative includes clean ups and educational programs around the area, not just in Norristown.

NORRISTOWN, PA -- The Schuylkill Scrub is a watershed-wide clean-up initiative that takes place from March 1st through May 31st every spring.
The Norristown event took place this past Saturday at Elmwood Park Zoo, and several volunteers participated.
The Schuylkill Action Network coordinates the initiative, but gives credit to the many partners with the common goal to clean as many miles of road, stream, and parkland in the Schuylkill watershed. Their efforts will help prevent trash from making its way into our drinking water sources and keep our land and waters clean, litter-free, and beautiful.

The Schuylkill Scrub is now part of the Great American Cleanup of PA, working towards the larger goal of cleaning up and beautifying the entire state of Pennsylvania.
Free supplies (trash bags, gloves, and vests) are provided through Keep PA Beautiful and PennDOT. Additionally, during the Pick It Up PA Days, which is from April 16th to May 9th, sponsored by the Department of Environmental Protection, Pennsylvania Waste Industries Association, and participating landfills, registered events have access to reduced or free disposal.
