'Significant Progress' Being Made On New CHOP Hospital In KOP
The major construction project, which will bring a 272,000 square foot hospital to King of Prussia, reached an important milestone.

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — A major milestone was reached in the construction of the massive new Children's Hospital of Philadelphia location in King of Prussia.
The 272,000 square foot building held its "topping off" event on Friday, indicating the completion of the construction's structural phase and marking significant progress towards completion of the facility.
The hospital, which was announced in June 2018, began construction in Sept. 2019, and is expected to be operational by Oct. 2021, CHOP officials said.

The new hospital will be adjacent to the King of Prussia Specialty Care and Urgent Care Center, which is already operational on South Goddard Boulevard.
Features of the incipient inpatient facility include 52 beds: 16 in the pediatric intensive care unit, and 36 medical surgical beds.

There is also a 24/7, 20-bay emergency department, an operating room suite, radiology services, and specialty operations for orthopedics, plastic surgery, ear, nose, and throat, urology, and more.
Nearby in the suburbs, CHOP has also laid out plans for a 37,000 square-foot specialty and urgent care facility in Abington.
