Suspect In Fatal Norristown Shooting Identified

NORRISTOWN, PA — Authorities have identified the suspect in the fatal shooting Monday night that led to the death of a 23-year-old man.

Eric Baker, 21, pictured above, is wanted for his alleged involvement in the incident, police said Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred at around 11 p.m. near the corner of Oak and Swede streets, police said. The victim, a 23-year-old man, was taken to Mercy Suburban Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

A motive for the shooting is not yet clear.

Authorities believe the victim and the suspect were acquainted, but the nature of their relationship is unknown.

Baker was arrested on March 24 for possession, according to court documents. He has been free ever since on $2,000 bail, awaiting a May 24 arraignment.

He had previously been arrested last September on a wide range of charges, including aggravated assault, possession of an instrument of crime, simple assault and reckless endangerment, court documents show. He was free on 10 percent of $25,000 bail for that case, which has not yet moved to trial.
