U.S. 202 South To Shut Down For Months For Sinkhole Remediation
Officials hope the next stage of the $22.4 million project will help resolve the ongoing sinkhole issues in the King of Prussia area.
UPPER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — A months-long closure of U.S. 202 south in King Prussia will begin next week as part of an ongoing $22.4 million sinkhole remediation project, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.
It's the latest in a series of closures of the frequently-added road, which has been victimized by dozens of sinkholes over the past several yeras.
The closure will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 25 and will continue through "late fall" 2026, PennDOT said. It impacts 202 from Saulin Boulevard to Henderson Road.

Drivers will be detoured to Saulin Boulevard and Henderson Road. Local access for homes and businesses will be maintained, but the closure for all others will be 24/7.
PennDOT said their contractor is using a "limited mobility grouting program" which involves drilling a series of holes in the pavement in a grid pattern.

The drilled holes are then filled with pressurized grout, which is typically a mixture of cement, water, and sand, to stabilize the ground immediately beneath the pavement. Crews are also working on drainage improvements and pavement reconstruction.
U.S. 202 north was shut down in the same direction for eight months in 2025 for the first stage of the remediation work.
Heidelberg Materials is the general contractor for the project.
