Firefighters battled a fire underground in Norristown Friday morning.

NORRISTOWN, PA -- An underground fire has caused a widespread power outage Friday morning in Norristown, the Norristown Fire Department said.

The blaze was focused near the intersection of Main Street and Markley Street at about 3 a.m.

Residents on Barbadoes Street were evacuated from their homes.
