Come into the library for help with filing your taxes. The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide service is available for free to taxpayers with low to moderate income, with special attention to those 60 and up. Registration is not required.

This Spring, we will be holding a hands-on food landscaping series here at the library. This series consists of four unique meetings independent from one another. You have the choice of attending all four workshops for $15 or only the one(s) you are interested in for $5 per workshop. You must register for these programs ahead of time. All of the following workshops will be held at the main library in Norristown at 1001 Powell Street in Norristown, PA. The individual workshops are as follows:

Introduction to Permaculture & Seed Starting
Date: Saturday, February 28th, 2015
Time: 11am-12:30pm
Place: Boardroom on the 2nd Floor of the Main Library
In this workshop, we will cover the basics of permaculture design and then hand out seeds to get you started with great tasting veggies. You will learn how to let the plants grow naturally on whatever land you’ve got and soon reap the rewards of growing your own food.
Grow Food in The Shade
Date: Saturday, March 21st, 2015
Time: 11am-12:30pm
Place: Outside the main entrance of the library
The shade from trees and houses make it difficult for many types of flowers to blossom, but after this workshop you’ll know all about how to grow edible plants in the shade.
Soil Building & Bio-Intensive Veggie Production
Date: Saturday, April 11th, 2015
Time: 11am-12:30pm
Place: In the library parking lot
Ditch the fertilizers, chemicals, and tillers; Learn how to create healthy soil (and healthy plants) with less work and more benefit to the environment.
Rain Gardens and Plant Guilds
Date: Saturday, May 2nd, 2015
Time: 11am-12:30pm
Place: Outside the main entrance of the library
Learn how to grow the happiest plants by putting them in their favorite conditions and find out what makes a good plant team or “guild”.

Dave Terruso, author of Cube Sleuth and stand up comedian, will be on hand to sign copies of his book as well as present a short comedy sketch.
Cube Sleuth is a dark comedy and amateur-detective murder mystery.
