The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is now hiring.

The starting salary for deputies is $35,544 a year, with benefits that include health and retirement, a Monday through Friday work week, and opportunities to transfer to other divisions.

The job description reads: "The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is one of the largest and most highly trained law enforcement agencies in the county. We are seeking ambitious men and women, who want to build a solid career in a professional law enforcement organization by serving as a deputy sheriff. We prefer candidates who have completed ACT 120 training. However, we will consider all applicants who carry the attributes of respect, accountability and compassion."

  • You must be 21 years of age (there is no maximum age).
  • You must have a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
  • You must be a Montgomery County resident for two years prior to hire.
  • Candidates who possess ACT 120 training are required to complete a two-week MCSO paid training at Penn State and a 48-hour online training course, to receive state certification. Candidates without ACT 120 training will be required to attend a 19-week training academy at Penn State University. All candidates must successfully complete physical fitness test requirements.
  • You are required to be on call one to two weeks per year.
  • You must complete the Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance forms, if given an offer of employment.
