1. Year of the Snake: Chinese New Year Celebration
When/Where: 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at the 850 Cranberry Woods Drive, Cranberry.

Why Go: Family-friendly activities at the celebration include Chinese story-telling, a traditional Chinese dance performance, Chinese arts and crafts, a lesson in Chinese language and samples of Chinese food.
Admission: $5 per person registration fee for those 12 and older—$3 for those under 12—will be collected upon arrival.
2. Alternavox
When/Where: 9 p.m. Saturday, Saturday Feb. 9 at Jergel's Rhythm Grille, 285 Northgate Drive, Warrendale.
Why Go: Alternavox is a cover band that brings a new voice to the alternative classics that you grew up listening to on your record player or walkman.
Admission: $7 cover starting at 8 p.m.
When/Where: noon Saturday, Feb. 9 at Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium.
Why Go: See the penguins step outside to enjoy the chilly winter. Kings, gentoos and macaronis will waddle down the hill outside of PPG Aquarium, then back up to the top.
Admission: Free with zoo admission.
4. Wine and Chocolate Experience
When/Where: 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at Old Economy Village, 270 16th St., Ambridge.
Why Go: Visit 20 merchants to enjoy a taste of wine and chocolate treats. Social event begins at 5 p.m. with music and prizes at Old Economy Village.
Admission: $15 per person or $25 per couple.
When/Where: noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at Ross Township Community Center.
Why Go: A fun-filled day where all participants enjoy themselves, regardless of their abilities. Free lunch at noon followed by a variety of indoor games, crafts and activities.
Admission: Free. Participants are asked to register by Feb. 6 for food and prizes to be purchased ahead of time. Call Rochelle at 412-364-4115 ext. 318 for more information.
