How to Register to Vote in Allegheny County
Here's all the information you need on how and where to register to vote for the upcoming general election Nov. 6. In Pennsylvania, the registration deadline is Oct. 9.

If you haven’t yet registered to vote, get it off your to-do list now.
Earlier this week, we observed National Voter Registration Day, and thousands of local, state and national organizations remain mobilized to make sure millions of people don’t miss the chance to cast their vote in this year’s elections.
Six million people didn’t vote in the 2008 elections because they either did not know how to register or because they missed the voter registration deadline.
The voter registration deadline for Pennsylvania is Oct. 9. In order to qualify to register, you must be 18 years old, a resident of Pennsylvania and a U.S. citizen for at one month before an election.
Here’s information on how you can register in time for the Nov. 6 general election:
- Fill out a voter registration form in person at the Allegheny County Division of Elections, Room 609 of the County Office Building, 542 Forbes Ave., Downtown.
- Download a voter registration form from the Elections Division website and mail it to Voter Registration Section, Division of Elections, Allegheny County, 542 Forbes Ave., Room 609, Pittsburgh, PA 15219-2953.
- Download a voter registration form from the Pennsylvania Department of State website and mail it to Voter Registration Section, Allegheny County Division of Elections, 542 Forbes Ave., Room 609, Pittsburgh, PA 15219-2953.
You may also register to vote at:
- Pennsylvania state offices that provide public assistance and services to persons with disabilities.
- Armed service recruitment centers.
- Area agencies on aging.
- Centers for independent living.
- Allegheny County mental health and mental retardation offices.
- Student disability services offices of the State System of Higher Education
- Offices of special education.
- The Allegheny County Marriage License Bureau on the first floor of the City-County Building, Downtown.
- Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Drivers License Centers while applying for or renewing your state drivers license.
