Pittsburgh Restaurant Slapped With Consumer Alert

Find out here what prompted the Allegheny County Health Department to issue a consumer alert for the eatery.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for Cafe Samarkand, on Banksville Road in Banksville, for several safety violations.

During an Oct. 7 inspection, an employee was observed mopping the floor and then handling food without washing their hands.

Additionally, the only toilet in the eatery is inoperable. While the staff has been given permission by the manager at the nearby Kuhn's Market to use their restrooms until the toilet is functional, that permission does not extend to customers.

Additionally, the restaurant was permitted for 12 seats but has 48 seats. The eatery was ordered to remove 36 seats.
