Report: California Medical Records Raise New Questions about North Allegheny Grad's Death After Dental Surgery

The family of Marek Lapinski hopes to get more answers following the unexpected death of the 24-year-old North Allegheny grad and former football player.

The family of Marek Lapinski hopes to get more answers from the Los Angeles County coroner and investigators about the recent death of the 24-year-old North Allegheny graduate.

Lapinski, a former North Allegheny and Duquesne University football player, died last week while having his wisdom teeth removed in California.

According to KDKA-TV, Lapinski's medical records show that he began to wake up and cough while undergoing oral surgery in a Riverside County, CA doctor’s office and was given the anesthetic propofol.

Eventually surgical gauze was discovered in his airway as paramedics tried to revive him, KDKA added.

The family is now seeking more answers from the Los Angeles County coroner and for the Riverside County prosecutor and medical investigators to look into the procedures used. They also hope to bring his body back home for a funeral later this week, KDKA reports.
