
Ken Kobus, retired mechanical engineer and local
historian, comes to Northland Library to present a look back at the Allegheny
Valley Railroad. Dating back to 1865, the
Allegheny Valley Railroad served as a vital connection to the iron, steel, salt
and oil industries in the Pittsburgh area. Using fascinating photos from the
past, Mr. Kobus, who has lectured extensively on the subject, will talk about
the railroad and its importance to the valley as the area became a great
