Air Force Flag Placed for Deployed Austin Fizel

At the June 27th Northampton Township Board of Supervisors meeting there was a flag placement ceremony for Air Force Senior Airman Austin Fizel of Holland who recently deployed to the Middle East from McGuire Air Force Base Tampa, FL. This was Austin’s second deployment. His first deployment was on August 23, 2016. Each deployment he acts as crew chief servicing KC-10 Extender aircraft at Al Dhafra Air Base in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Austin’s mom Marie and dad George placed Austin”s personalized Air Force flag in the display where it will stay until he returns from his deployment to exchange it.

The Township's Flag Display honors those resident military members who have deployed to combat areas since 2003. All flags have streamers displaying the person's name, rank and service. After the ceremony there were 87 flags displayed. Of these 87 there are 2 Military flags displayed and not returned to the person yet and they belong to Kelsey Glover and Austin Fizel, both are in the Air Force.

Program coordinator Pete Palestina presided over the ceremony and welcomed several people in attendance to participate. Among them were members of the Marine Corps League, Veterans Advisory Commission members, Volunteer Firemen, State Senator Tommy Tomlinson and State Representative Helen Tai. Tomlinson and Tai gave thoughtful remarks to Austin’s parents as did Northampton Fire Chief Adam Selisker.
