2/22/12 7:30PM Northampton Flag Placement for 2 Residents In Afghanistan

On Wednesday evening February 22nd at 7:30pm, the Northampton Township Board of Supervisors will have a Northampton Patriots flag placement ceremony recognizing two more residents who recently deployed to Afghanistan.

1. A placement of a Marine Corps flag by his mom and dad, Denise and Bill, for resident Lance Corporal Thomas Buseman while he is deployed in Afghanistan.

2. A placement, for the second time, of a Army flag by his mom and dad, Pat and Bill, for resident Captain Kevin Loughnane, while he is deployed in Afghanistan. Loughnane previously served in Iraq 2009-2010 while his Army flag was first placed in the display and then returned to him when he came home on 7/28/10. On Wednesday his parents will bring that flag back to the ceremony to once again place it in the display. 

A tradition since 2003, the township honors its active duty military serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as other combat areas, by placing a military flag in a display in the public meeting room. Each flag contains a yellow streamer with the persons name affixed to it. There are currently 72 flags in the display. Upon arrival home, the supervisors return the military flag to the soldier and replace it with an American flag. After Wednesday night there will be 73 total flags in the display with 6 of them armed services flags that will be awaiting return to their Northampton representatives (3 Marines, 2 Army and 1 Navy).
