Attempted Auto Theft, Burglary Arrest: Northampton Township Police Report

Northampton police reported incidents from March 30 through April 5, including crashes, thefts, and a scam alert.

RICHBORO, PA — The Northampton Township police reported the following incidents and arrests between March 30 and April 5, with cases ranging from an attempted vehicle theft in Holland to a burglary arrest, retail theft arrests and several traffic crashes.

On March 30, patrol responded to the Holland section for a report of an attempted vehicle theft. During the investigation, police reported that several vehicles had been broken into. Information was gathered, and the case was assigned to detectives.

That same day, a patrol officer observed a juvenile operating an e-bike in a parking lot in the 800 block of Bustleton Pike. Police spoke with the driver, and a parent was contacted to retrieve the e-bike.

On March 31, patrol responded to East Holland Road and Pine View Drive for a deer-related crash. According to the report, a vehicle was traveling eastbound on East Holland Road when a deer entered the roadway, resulting in a collision. No tow was required.

Police also handled two incidents on April 1. Patrol responded to Hatboro Road and New Road for a traffic accident in which one vehicle was turning onto Hatboro Road from New Road and struck another vehicle traveling on Hatboro Road.

Later that day, patrol responded to a home in the Holland section for an attempted burglary. According to the report, the suspect vehicle fled the area when officers arrived. Patrol units checked the surrounding area, located the vehicle and stopped it. The individual was taken into custody and charged with offenses related to the incident.

On April 2, patrol responded to a business on Tanyard Road for the theft of a garden statue. Through the investigation, suspects were identified and theft-related charges were filed.

A day later, on April 3, a detective was at a business in the 800 block of 2nd Street Pike when a retail theft occurred. The individuals involved were stopped, identified, and taken into custody, according to the report.

Police also responded to a crash in the 900 block of 2nd Street Pike on April 4. In that case, one vehicle was pulling onto 2nd Street Pike from a parking lot and struck another vehicle traveling on 2nd Street Pike. A tow was required.

The report also included a scam complaint from April 5. A resident told police they received a text message about an unpaid traffic citation that claimed payment was needed to avoid a license suspension and an arrest warrant. The resident recognized it as a scam and contacted the police.

During this report, patrol officers also handled 13 alarm calls, 15 abandoned 911 calls, 40 medical emergencies, seven bookings, three domestic disputes, five civil disputes, 59 traffic monitoring details and 19 crime prevention details.
