Bucks County Flood Maps to Change

A meeting will be held Thursday in New Hope with federal and state officials.

Flood maps in Bucks County are set to change next year, and the changes could potentially have a major impact on some local homeowners.

Flood maps, originally drawn up in the 1970s, will be updated in November 2014, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. In addition to updating the flood zones, the federal government is phasing out subsidies that kept flood insurance costs low for older homes, the Inquirer said.

In Bucks County, that change could affect thousands.

A meeting to discuss these changes will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the New Hope Eagle Volunteer Fire Company. Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development will be in attendance, the Inquirer said.
