Council Rock Passes $227M Preliminary Budget

The Council Rock School Board has approved a $227 million preliminary budget.

The preliminary budget, approved at Thursday's school board meeting, will be considered for final adoption at the June 2 board meeting.

If the budget is approved as proposed, there would be a 2.4 percent tax increase, which is about $106 for the average homeowner, according to information provided by the school district.

BucksLocalNews.com reports the district is still facing a $5.2 million deficit, down from about $14 million. To get where it is today, the administration made cuts. Plus, additional savings should be realized from staff retirements and the district may get more than it anticipated from the state in basic education funding, the report said.
