CPCU/Council Rock Fire Safety Contest Awards Rescheduled
All Awards to be presented December 19th at Northampton Supervisors Meeting 7:30PM
Due to the cancellation of the November 15th Council Rock School Board meeting, and the time limitations for the rescheduled November 29th meeting, the Fire Safety Awards will not be presented at a Council Rock Board meeting. Instead, the 2018 CPCU/Council Rock Fire Safety in the Home Contest awards will be presented at the Northampton Township Supervisors meeting along with the Municipal, State and Federal Commendations.
The Philadelphia Chapter of the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters Society (CPCU), a professional insurance educational society, announced the winners of the 35th annual Fire Safety In The Home Contest co-sponsored with the Council Rock School Board. Students in the Council Rock elementary schools were invited to write essays or create posters on the subject of fire safety during National Fire Prevention Week, October 7th - 13th. Each school in the district submitted its top entrants for the final judging. The panel of judges was comprised of School Board Director Joseph Hidalgo, Northampton Township Fire Marshal Frank Fenton and former Northampton Township Supervisor Pete Palestina, CPCU who is the coordinator of the contest for the CPCU organization.
The awards will be presented at the Northampton Township Board of Supervisors meeting of December 19th at 7:30 p.m.. The November 15th scheduled presentation was canceled due to snow and could not be rescheduled for November 29th. Instead, a single night presentation will take place at the December 19th Northampton Supervisors meeting, 55 Township Road, Richboro. In addition to the CPCU Society awards listed below, the Townships will present special citation awards of recognition. Expected to be on hand, or represented for the presentations, are State Senators Tomlinson and McIlhinney, State Representatives Tai and Warren and Representative Elect Thomas who will be presenting commendations from the Pa House and Senate. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick for the Congress and representing Newtown Township will be Board of Supervisors Chairman Phil Callabro. Council Rock Board member Joe Hidalgo will also be attending.
