DUI Arrest, Multiple Crashes, Downed Wires: Northampton Police Report
Police activity in Northampton included responses to traffic accidents, utility issues, and a fraud complaint over one week.

RICHBORO, PA — The Northampton Township Police Department responded to numerous incidents between February 24 and March 1, including multiple traffic accidents, downed wires, and a reported online scam.
Officers handled 16 alarm calls, eight abandoned 911 calls, 40 medical emergencies, seven bookings, five domestic disputes, nine civil disputes, 77 traffic monitoring details, and 23 crime prevention details during this period.
On Feb. 28, patrol responded to a traffic accident at Hatboro Road and Almshouse Road. Following an investigation, the driver of one of the vehicles involved was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Traffic accidents were also reported on Feb. 24 at East Holland Road and Polder Drive, where a detached trailer tire struck another vehicle. On Feb. 25, a collision involving a deer occurred on Almshouse Road. Another incident on Feb. 27 in the 800 block of Newtown-Richboro Road involved a four-vehicle chain reaction collision. On March 26, a driver lost control and struck a tree on Knowles Avenue during snowy conditions.
Downed wires caused disruptions on Feb. 26 at Buck Road and Middle Holland Road, temporarily closing the roadway. On March 26, officers also responded to Spencer Road and Skyview Drive for downed power lines, with PECO addressing the issue. On March 1, patrol secured a utility pole with exposed wires on Buck Road.

A scam attempt was reported on Feb. 26. A complainant attempting to purchase an item online was contacted via text message requesting payment through Zelle. After paying, the complainant received a follow-up text requesting additional fees through the same cash application. The complainant then realized it was a scam, and the item was never received. Information was gathered, and the case has been assigned to detectives.
